Pistyll Golau
Ffynnon o ddŵr oer iawn oedd y ffynnon hon ag iddi enw mor hyfryd.
Lleolid hi tua hanner milltir, neu lai, o’r Eglwys, yn y goedwig rhwng yr
Orsaf Drenau – y ‘Taff Vale Railway’ – a’r Hen Chwarel. Roedd y dŵr
yn fodd i iacháu cloffni a gewynnau gweinion.26 O dan y pennawd:
‘Radyr and Other Notes’, yn y Cardiff and Suburban News, 10 Mawrth
1934, ceir y sylwadau a ganlyn gan Edgar L Chappell:
‘Pistyll
Goleu is situated in the wood about 100 yards north of Radyr Quarry, and not
in
the quarry itself. At one time it had a reputation for healing sprains and
rheumatism,
and,
indeed, when very young, I have gone there daily many times. In those days it
was
well
roofed in, but in recent years it
has been sadly neglected. Visitors will find this
interesting
spot opposite a signal box, nesting peacefully amongst undergrowth and
under
the shade of large trees.’27
Yn yr un papur, 19 Mawrth 1938, ychwanegodd Edgar L Chappell y geiriau hyn:
‘Pistyll
Goleu (or sparkling fountain) is the name of a prolific spring ... The water
contains
no
special medicinal ingredients, and its medical efficacy, if any, consists in its
extreme
coldness.
The well is enclosed by a stone well head.’
